Yeah all of Aweb's new features are cool but IBrowse is still the best because of it's internel image decoding and it dosen't have the problems assiciated with using class act eg. pressing buttons and nothing happens. But i don't like MUI either (only having it to run internet programs). I'd like to see more development of BGUI, not too turn it into another MUI, but a GUI format that dosen't look as good but is faster, uses less memory and dosen't have the Functions of MUI you never use. It would be really nice if an official up-to-date icon editor made a reappearance in WB3.5. Hopefully it would be capable of doing 3- and 8- bit icons, anim icons, borderless icons, importing palettes from other icons (MWB, eg) and doing search and replaces for icons with the same tooltypes/filetypes. You could make a .jpg icon and then save/replace all the .jpg icon images on a disk or drive. It would be really, really nice if by version 4.0, this editor could also edit, load, save, typical standard WB gadgets, etc. Then instead of the MUI, ClassAct,etc developing system patches, they could distribute "gadget sets", background patterns, etc... Just a suggestion for us ol' desktop fidgiters. d.

I think most of this is in Iconian (or some other icon editor). But I
agree, the 'official' IconEdit is pretty pathetic nowadays.

You can already do this with DefIcons (part of the NewIcons package).
You'd have all your JPEG files without icons, but DefIcons determines the
filetype and gives it the icon ENV:Sys/def_jpeg.info

Have you had a look at VisualPrefs?

Sorry if I sound patronising, but I've not read c.s.a.m for ages
