Hi there
Could one of you kind persons please help a humble man with a problem that I
am experiencing with Virus Checker 8.04 and memory usuage.
I set the temp dir as work:Virus/VC and leave it empty as per the docs
suggestion and procede to scan my hard disk. The memory get used as a large
file is scanned and whereas in previous incarnations of this excellent program,
once the file was finished with the memory was freed, not so with this version.
I am not sure if it is the virus checker program itself or do I have the temp
dir to a specific location.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW Why does VC return the possible link virus for the game Worms and suggest
that I delete it. Strange.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. For info purposes my set up is as below
and I start VC, Toolmanager, GVPCPU control software and cycle to menu in my WB
startup draw.
The VC archive was taken off the Aminet CD11.
BFN
Bob

The last couple of versions of Virus_Checker had a buggy version of unpack.library in the archive. Replace it with an earlier version from a previous release and all should be fine. 40.57 works OK. > BTW Why does VC return the possible link virus for the game Worms and suggest > that I delete it. Strange. You'll find the answer in the .guide file under "Possible $4eb9 Link Virus" I believe. (d.i.s.a removed from follow-ups) Phil -- Philip Stokes phil@stokes.demon.co.uk Hertfordshire England

The unpack.library in that archive has a bug you need to either use the one from the previous version or possibly there's a newer one on Aminet. > > > BTW Why does VC return the possible link virus for the game Worms and suggest > that I delete it. Strange. A couple of possibles, a) VC is getting a bit out of date now and it can't tell the difference, b) you've got a virus I suggest you get another checker and don't use Worms until you've checked it, and/or reinstall Worms from a clean archive. -- http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/1666 Team AMIGA One thing leads to another, and usually does.
