I just got v6 and it's very good, the potential for customising it with Arexx is huge. But I can't get octamed to run my scripts, even after following the instructions in the manual to the letter. I haven't yet tried running it with rx (I'm at work at the moment) but thought someone might know off hand what's wrong. I suspect the apostrophes; they're printed in the manual as being different on the left and the right e.g. `AN_AREXXCOMMAND' for each command in the script (except control structures etc). But I have to press [Ctrl+'] to get [`] - should the first apostrophe perhaps be a ['] ? Not having used Arexx at all before you can understand my confusion at this. I'm pretty certain I've set up OctaMED properly to run the scripts. Any help greatly appreciated, Max

You should take care that each script:
* contains a comment in the beginning of its first line (e.g. /* script */)
* if you execute it from outside of OctaMED, contains the line:
address "OCTAMED_REXX"

I don't remember right now how ARexx handles "reverse"-apostrophes, but the
above form doesn't seem correct anyway. You should use one of these formats:
'AN_AREXXCOMMAND'
"AN_AREXXCOMMAND"
AN_AREXXCOMMAND
Either the apostrophes or quotation marks are both accepted by ARexx.
The quoting conventions are quite tricky indeed.

Then I'll have to make a very small complaint - the manual uses `..' throughout the tutorial. I tried trunning the script with rx and it couldn't find it, even when I gave it the full pathname - does it have to be executable? I'll try the things you suggested when I get home. Thanks for OctaMED Teijo, you can be proud of it.
