Hmm.
Back up your HD/comms partition.

Now run it thru an optimizer. (Optimistic tight-arse? :)

Your HD has been heavily fragmented. This will happen because of the
constant wrting and deleting of files in you comms partition.

You could optimize the partition without backing it up, but if anything
goes wrong you'll lose *all* of your data. Don't say I didn't warn you.
