Hi All!
I'm new to the CD32 scene. I understand support is >nil but I still happy
that I got it. It is sweet!
I want to know what are some of the very best, "blow your socks off" type
games that really demonstrate the power of this unit... Good music is also a
must.
Do any games like this exists??
Thanks
Walt
BTW, I'm also interested in possibly getting a "module" that plugs into the
system that allows me to see laser-disk movies. Where would I find such an
item and what would be its cost???

Yep,
Microcosm - Pretty impressive tunnel scenes and incredible intro,
it think it's in HAM8 mode...Gameplay is too difficult, but it looks
great. As good asan PC offering.
SuperStardust - Asteroids on steroids. a classic game with a
kickin CD soundtrack and impressive tunnel sequences better thatn the
original.
Litil Divil- Cartoon graphics with puzzle solving, gorgeous
animated graphics, no FMV but well drawn with cdaudio.
I'm new to the CD32 scene also, can anyone else suggest some
killer games...
Thanks,
MJesus

The graphics may not be knock-you-dead beautiful, but the gameplay is great. I like the music and sound effects, too. They really add to the game. For the best platformer on any machine, try James Pond 3. Very cool. I have a list of ratings of the 31 CD32 games I own on my web site. Check it out. P.S. Anyone out there have acopy of D/Generation or Wing Commander I can purchase from them? -- Matthew Stroup (stroupm@gaia.ecs.csus.edu) http://gaia.ecs.csus.edu/~stroupm

I have to disagree with you on this one :-( PC offerings blow it away :( The
game sucks big time and the intro isnt HAM8 its HAM... XCDXL...

Rock on.. This game is awesome... :-) Music is pretty kewl and the GFX are
safe...

I can say no more...
I would add:
Pinball Fantasies / Illusions - These are excellent.
Tower Assault...
Damn, is this all we got???

I should have been clear about this, I MEANT as good as the PC version
of Microcosm. I don't think the CD32/Amiga will ever see anything like
whats being done today on PC's. :(

They were CDXLs. And so, they
would not be affected by the FMV cart.
Probably there are MPEG and CDXL versions on the same disk
if what you say is true.

Get Alien Breed 3 - Tower Assult, talk about your Intro of ALL intros!!
A good 5 - 7 minute long FMV intro getting you hype'd for the game, and no
MPG card needed!... and the game itself is a killer.
Also, you might want to check out, "Benieth A Steel Sky", very impressive,
everybody TALKS, no need to read text captures, just turn on the voice and
EVERY character has his own voice.
Theme Park, is still an impressive game, build and run/maintain your
own theme park, and expand across the globe.
UFO Enemy Unkown, is got to be the best Strategy playing games on the Cd32
unit, the unfortunate part is , its a bit sluggish anims, maybe an
ACCELERATOR (HINT,HINT), well come out for the Cd32, I'd be MORE than
willing to spend some good money for an accelerator to add to the SX-1
or maybe add alone to the unit.

Is it any good??? Personnelly having seen Alien Breed 3d on the CD32 I would go for Gloom. I sent Alien Breed 3D back as it was very pixellated and hard to distinguish things. Gloom is still easier to see and get around even in full screen mode. __________________________________________________________________ | | | Bye...Happy Happy Joy Joy from Vancouver Island, Parksville, BC, | | Canada, Paul Olivero. < get it > apaulo@qb.island.net =8^) | | | | You have not converted a man because you have silenced him. | |__________________________________________________________________|

Certainly is. I've had it for about 2 months now. Excellent game, though
you'll want some Fast RAM to make it fun on later levels.

CDXL is still better than AVI intros on the PeeCEEs, AVI needs a bloody pentium
to even get close to voice sync with the graphics...
CDXL runs better on a CD32 with 4Mb of FastRAM in an SX1 or SX32...
the reason it look crap in ROBOCOD and SOCCERKID is that its been blown up,
so the PIXELS have been stretched! ... Bad Move!
Dunno what format the MicroCosm intro was in, but the voices were obviously
dubbed, either from german or something???
Still it looks good!
Checkout Tower Assault for a Brill game, and over 7 Minutes of CDXL intro
developed by TEAM17. Its excellent.

Bad Move! A potentially nice thing for the future is that VISCorp (possible new owners of Amiga Technologies) has the originator of CDXL as their director of software! (Carl Sassenrath). He also is credited as the inventor of AmigaDOS. Perhaps he will do a new version to take advantage of the more powerful processors? After all, if it looks so good on the old 68000 imagine what it could do if optimized for the 020+ models. -=BB

Now I was thinking (Uh-oh!), since the new Amigas (Walkers, etc.) will come with a 4x CDROM, couldn't they have twice as much info coming in off the CD, allowing 320x200 HAM8 CDXL? I'd be happy with that. Try to do one-quarter of that on a Pentium PC with AVI or MPEG (I have, yuck!). Just a thought... -- Matthew Stroup (stroupm@gaia.ecs.csus.edu) http://gaia.ecs.csus.edu/~stroupm
