I was wondering if the SX32 designer can release a mem. expension ONLY card for CD32. It seems the main benifit of SX32 is the Fast mem expension. I believe most CD32ers mainly use CD32 for playing games, demos, mods, viewing graphics. this is the real value of the great CD32. So extra Fast ram is essential and enough. Who is the designer of SX32 ? anyone can make a suggestion to them ?

Well it would,t really be much cheaper than the SX32. You'd still need a new backplane with 2 expensive sockets, a pcb, memory controller/interface logic, PCB, testing etc. The extras that you wouldn't have (sockets, serial, parallel, clock, IDE interface) add a lot of value for little marginal cost. It's just the part of the tradeout analysis that designers have to make.... Sounds like the SX32 is a good cut on what people want for their CD32 now.... Jerry Robinson ps... Jerry Bob (we can say that in Texas, you know) says check out Amiga Technologies Web site.... Dr. Peter K. deserves a *SERIOUS* attaboy for his excellent work.... --jr

A bare simm expension board should be a simple, very budget upgrade. for most CD32ers

The most annoying thing about the CD32 is that it's a full computer just
bursting to be used..!

I've put some thought into this, and I still can't agree. If you had the
option of spending 100 quid for a RAM expansion, or 200 quid for a full 1200,
which would you go for? I know what *I* went for.. ;)
Remember, also, the RAM is going to cost at least 50 quid for any decent
amount. I paid the equiv. of 90 pounds for my 8Mb SIMM, so why not go the
whole hog? You'd soon find a >2Mb CD32 a complete pain without a floppy/HD to
save to.
When I took my 2000 to be checked over a few days ago, I managed to get along
with my CD32 - I had Thor installed, and used Aweb to surf the net for about
three days until I could retrieve the 2000. Point being, it worked quite well
(if a lot slower than the 040...).
