An SX-1 will allow you to add up to 8 megabytes of RAM for a  total of 10.
If you have an FMV card installed, you'll only be able to add 4 megs.

The rom you have in your CD32/SX-1 is Kickstart 3.1, just take a look
in the "about..." in the Workbench menu.

The CD32 comes with 3.1.

My understanding is that the CD32 has OS3.1 IN ROM....
