I recently replaced the GVP 33MHz '030 combo card in my A2000 with a Tek Magic 50MHz '060 board. Made a very nice speed increase ;) However, I've not been able to get ShapeShifter to boot on the '060 yet. I have SS 3.4 registered, 1M Mac roms from a Quadra 700, and Mac OS 7.5, all of which ran perfectly on the '030 and on my '040 A4000. What do I need to do to get this running on the '060 now? So far, I've managed to get the "Happy Mac" displayed once before the Amiga Gurued. Usually everything hangs up long before that point, the gray screen will appear and the Mac mouse pointer appears before the power light starts blinking and the Amiga needs to be rebooted. I get the same if I use the Picasso mode or the Amiga display modes. I've tried deleting the PRAM file, various memory settings, from 1720K to letting SS use the largest free block (6580K), tried booting from the Mac partition, tried disabling SCSI and hard drive altogether and booting from floppy (HD), but nothing has worked. Even tried SS 3.2 and 3.3, still no luck. Also tried disabling the caches on the '060 and removing the OS 3.1 rom image from ram. At the moment, contiguous memory may be a problem as I have 3 GVP 4M SIMMS and 1 72-pin 4M SIMM installed which gives me one 8M block of contiguous memory. I had a brief chance to install and use a set of matched 16M SIMMS on the board which made a 32M block of contiguous 32 bit fast ram but SS refused to work with that combination also. What have other '060 owners had to do to get SS working on your systems? Any suggestions on what else I can try on my system? Thanks in advance, Dave Martin - dkm@col.hp.com

I had similar problems and was about to give up on SS when I just happened to try a prog from Aminet called MacMem. I placed it in my startup-sequence just before Prepareemul and everything worked ok. I don't know if this is any help. >Thanks in advance, >Dave Martin - dkm@col.hp.com Mick.

I had encounterd same experience before. When I replaced the Mangoose 030 acceralator with the Blizzard1260, the "Happy Mac" displayed and crashed. I suspected the Mac side system because the Mac was about to boot. Perhaps some files for extension which read at the Mac start-up seem not to fit the 060 CPU. So putting the 030 acceralator back in my A1200 and the Mac system booted, I removed files in the system extension folder as much as possible. It came to run perfectly. I hope this is some help for you. -- Shigeru Noro noro@jeton.or.jp
