I think I might have 2 possible solutions, as I am suffering from the
same thing. I called my ISP and asked for help. They said that
sometimes the config PPP open button is ghosted because PPP has not
been selected in the MacTCP control panel. Try selecting PPP in your
MacTCP control panel and then see if the ghosting disappears.

If that doesn't work, (it did not work for me), then the problem may
be with your RAM. I have a DKB 3128 memory expansion board with an
8Mb SIMM and 4Mb SIMM. Config PPP did not work with both simms
installed, but it worked with just the 4Mb SIMM. Actually I am
writing this now with my computer open and with the 4Mb SIMM installed
as I have been trying to do some troubleshooting. If you have a fix
on how to get all the memory working, let me know! Otherwise try
mucking about with you memory in differnet configurations or disable
the memory on your Fastlane. Hope that works!
