I have heard of EGS, but I have also heard that it is slow : compared to CgFX, but still better than RetinaEMU. Yes, I received an email from someone else who has been in contact with MacroSystems as well, and he said the same thing. Unfortunately, no one seems to know when it will finally be available... :-/ But most people including some Amiga dealers have told me it is "unlikely" to happen. Maybe I will try emailing NoahJi's here in North America to see if they know anything (doubt it). I've got the address somewhere... :) : Now, a question for you: have you found a way to speed up the gfx operations : with the Z2 using >16 color screens? Mine is SLOW! Thanks and hope this : helps.... I haven't had the Retina board that long but for example, I do find even a 256 colour Workbench slow...probably because it is actually processing in 24bit anyway. Jpegs and Gifs view maybe 5-10 times faster than ECS/HAM viewers on the Amiga side though. I've also heard very good things about the Retina Z2 when used with ShapeShifter (the soft. Mac Emul.). The reason why the Retina is slower than Picasso and Retina Z3 is because those boards have a blitter while the Retina Z2 does not. Hmmmm....I wonder if we can still have a special deal on upgrading to the Z3 Retina which is 3-5 times faster than a PicassoII. :) Despite its slowness in some operations, the Retina does have some advantages over the other cards (like higher rez. 24bit screens, VERY configurable, etc.) so it would be nice to see a speed increase via CyberGFX! Of course, Retina speed could also be dependent on your CPU. I'm running an Amiga 3000/16Mhz 2meg chip/4meg fast. What are you running? Well thanks for responding Rick. Hope we get our Retinas up to speed soon! BTW, have you made any of your own screens with Define Monitor? I have a C=1950 monitor, and occasionally will have to manually adjust the screens but Define Monitor is supposed to fix this? No...I still haven't RTFM! Well not fully anyway...haven't printed it out yet. It's in Amiga Guide format. Regards, Vince.
