I haven't tried with shapeshifter, no, since I don't have SS.

But yes, it is a whole whopping lot faster than AGA.  The only thing I
can think of off hand that's slower is switching screens, since they
have to be swapped in/out from fast RAM.  But even that is tolerably
fast on a Z-III bus.
