I have an A500 with the a-501 512k RAM expander, the motherboard has been hacked so the 501 works as chip ram. I want to get the latest version of the OS, and I have a few questions: 1) What is the version I should ask for? Is it 3.1? 2) This is a complete package that comes with a chip and workbench disks, right? 3) Will my chip ram hack interfere? (btw I should add that's not all the ram I have, I have 2 megs fast ram in my GVP HD stuck on the side) 4) I seem to recall hearing awhile ago that this ROM has a built-in degrader. Is this true, and if so how well does it work for older demos and things like that? 5) Do I need to specify that it's for an A500 (I don't think so, but I thought I should check)? Email is preferred, I read this group regularly but my feed tends to lose things. Thanks in advance!

Yes - by way of a pre-boot menu (hold down both mouse buttons when starting) It does not work well for programs that hit the hardware directly. > > 5) Do I need to specify that it's for an A500 (I don't think so, but I > thought I should check)? yes you do. > > Email is preferred, I read this group regularly but my feed tends to > lose things. > > Thanks in advance!

There may be problems with 2.04->3.1 too. > 5) Do I need to specify that it's for an A500 (I don't think so, but I > thought I should check)? You'll need a A500/A2000 version of the ROM -- Roger Martensson E-Mail: ragge@medio.mh.se Slattervagen 19 WWW: http://www.eagle.ovik.se/~ragge/ S-831 61 OSTERSUND IRC: Ragge SWEDEN Note: Amiga - Can't Beat The Feeling
