I need some help with connecting a CDROM drive to my Amiga. I've never actually connected an external SCSI device so... I need to make sure I know what I'm doing :) I have: An A2000 with Internal Supra WordSync SCSI Hard-Drive. An NEC CDR-36 External CD-ROM drive. The Supra WordSync manual describes the external port as a DB-25 SCSI port... and states that it follows the Macintosh format (On the 25-pin connector, pins 7,9,14,16,18, and 24 connect to ground.. on the 50-pin connector, all odd pins except 25 connect to ground). So, I'm assuming I need a DB-25 to Centronics 50 cable to connect the drive? Anyone else have a CD-ROM drive attached to a WordSync? Perhaps you could give some suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!

Joe, You need to set the scsi ID on the CDrom to something higher than your scsi drive id numbers, then you need to edit your CD0 driver (in your storage/dosdrivers), setting the unit number the same. Your CDroms should automount when you boot the machine. For even easier installation, plus some other nice features, I recommend a commercial CDrom driver called Asim. It's only around $29.95, installs easily, has a PCD driver (to view photocd's) an audio cd remote control, and some other features, plus is very easy to install. Just double click the install icon and it asks you what unit number your cdrom is and then writes the driver for you. wavegirl
