John at Scala...I'm an experienced Scala application creator and user on the Amiga, and am looking forward to the PC version. A quick question...will there be a runtime player for MM100? Will it be stand-alone, so that apps can be sent to others who dont own SCALA? This has been the one outstanding down-side to the Amiga versions...you couldn't create an app that you could distribute or sell. Thanks in advance for your answer

MM100 will come with a runtime player, however, distribution of the player is limited to non-commercial use. We do plan on making a version of MM100 for commercial use. Called "Publisher PB100", it includes the ability to encrypt scripts, so that tampering or modification is not possible. The runtime player can be distributed for commercial use. Suggested Retail Price is $1,495 USD. If you have any additional questions, please post them in COMP.MULTIMEDIA please. Further discussions in this newsgroup would be inappropriate. Thank you. Remember it is possible Amiga users of Scala will *eventually* become PC users, and being able to follow along with MM100 questions will give them a headstart. Also it is annoying to wade through all the lame MacroMedia questions etc in comp.multimedia. So while it is indeed *more* appropriate in comp.multimedia, it is not necessarily inappropriate to post those questions here. Just my two Β’ents worth. wavegirl

Well, if there are no overwhelming objections, then we can continue to discuss Scala products, PC and/or Amiga, here in this newsgroup and the comp.multimedia newsgroup.
