On a lark I decided to reconfigure AmiTCP using CSLIP instead of SLIP, and
believe it or not, now everything works just fine!  My provider originally told
me, and even emailed me, that I was using SLIP.... hmmm...

Anyway, it's good to know that the problem was something rather simple
afterall.  If anyone else is experiencing these sort of problems, they might
want to give this a shot.
