a2065 cards, multicast & ethertalk zones

I need help from a networking/developer guru. I have been trying
to get shapeshifter to work in an extensive ethertalk/ethernet
network with multiple routers and zones (activated to pass
ethertalk traffic... all macs work OK).
For some reason when shapeshifter tries to access ethertalk zone
information, it can get the zone name and the macs that are on the
immediate subnet, but it can't "see" past the router.
I have tried disabling all amiga networking software (inet-225) so
that the TCP/IP protocol stacks aren't running, but to no avail.

question: Is this something to do with MULTICAST functions in the
a2065.device driver and the networking card.

question2: what are the protocol types for ethertalk / ethertalk
zone info (i.e ethernet IP is 2048 / 2054) so that I can do
some packet capture with sanamon or sanautil

question3: Does the a2065.device driver & card even support multicast?

Any help would be appreciated
