AmiTCP 4.0 demo - hostname, AmiTCP

I am having problems with AmiTCP 4.0 demo on A3000 w/ WB3.1, and a
14.4kbps modem. The strange the setup worked before, on a A500 w/
WB2.1 and 2400bps modem. I've used AmiTCP 4.0 demo, the A3000 w/ 3.1
and the 14.4 modem together before also.

I am using a modified version of dialer_V3.01 for NSTN (in Canada) so
I do 'rx slipup' and it dials, connects and gives me the my IP address
and the gateway address (which is static).

Now when I go "startnet 137.186.21.115" or whatever the IP address is,
it logs me in with username and password (on the Amiga), starts AmiTCP
itself and brings up the demo requester. Then when I click okay AmiTCP
exits, and it goes on to 'route add default ...' and finally when it
makes it to AmiTCP:bin/hostname it just sits there. Traceroute and
ping are unable to even reach the destination IP address.

Any suggestions?

(For those wanting more info on using AmiTCP;)
use AmiTCP 4.0 demo, the installer works it is available on AmiNET. If
you are using a SLIP or CSLIP, or PPP connect try dialup from AmiNET
and modify it as need be. To figure what modifications need to be made
use a terminal program such as Term, JR-Comm, NComm, Terminus,
Termite, etc and dial the phone number given by the ISP.For mail, if
you need a POP client, try AmiPOP making sure you use the AmiTCP
version, and I use Elm to read my mail. I also use(d) Inet-Utils to
send mail using SMTPpost. For news I used GRn-2.1a. AMosaic for WWW,
though ALynx looks interesting also. This stuff isn't simple,
networking is what it sounds like, making computers communicate with
each other, not an easy task. Read the AmiTCP, WWW, and any other FAQs
you can find, consider picking up a copy of "Connect your Amiga."
