State of Amiga

I have not been an Amiga user for about five years, so I thought this
would be the place to ask my questions. Today I pulled out my good old
A500, and was surprised to rediscover what an amazingly wonderful machine
she still is! I initially noticed that she still produces better
animation than than my Pentium, and as I continued to play around I
realised that I should very much begin to be an active Amiga user again.
The problem is that at the time I mournfully had to turn to the infinitely
inferior world of MSDos machines, software was practically unavailable and
Commodore had just gone belly-up (though I think they probably deserved it
for what they let happen to the Amiga). I am surprised and elated to find
that the Amiga still exists, but wonder how it is doing in the US market.
In fact, exactly what are they up to in general? Last thing I knew, there
was no point in buying a hard drive because almost noting supported it
(though I did it anyway-- $700 for a 30M drive, Jeez). I'd really
appreciate it if someone could bring me up to speed about the Amiga's
situation in the US. If you've got the time, please email me at
Borzag@aol.com.
