Why don't you just pull out your Workbench 3.0 floppy and copy the asl.library
off of it onto your hard drive again. Workbench 3.0 has v39.4 of the
asl.library with it.

You probably got it from some lame installer script that just copied over your
libraries. I had this happen to me once on my machine, I only found out when
I had a similar problem as you. I got a message that I had the wrong version
of asl.library.
