>Hi, Brian! > U wrote to Alle ... >>: > EEk! I want a decent News Reader on my amiga that can compare to Free >>: > Agent or Netscape 2.0 on my PC! There must be one somewhere... >>: >>: There is! Try Thor 2.2. It's on Aminet. >>: >>Will you guys PLEASE knock it off with the damn thor promotions! Reading >>the AMIGA newsgroups seems to be like a LONG, drawn-out info-mercial. Sure, >>thor >INFO == Information. Hey, I don`t regard myself as a newbie, but hey... there >is no OFFLINE - Newsreader out there besides THOR. >And it doesn`t only depent on you internet provider who may or may not offer >you unlimited time. Ever thought about a high phonebill when reading online? >I would *never* read any mail online! Why Read your Mail online? >>There is now a newsgroup for Thor, USE IT! And only tell *newbies* that >What`s the name of this newsgroup? It's alt.sys.amiga.thor I a lot of places though still don't have it, It took a whole before I got it myself but only after finally requesting it. >>there is a choice of Thor. Thor is EXCELLENT for beginners, but for >And which program do you, as an *advanced* user, use when you read usenet??? >>experienced users, Thor will only be good for those poor souls who don't >>have a cheap internetting solution, such as unlimited time, available to >>them. I do indeed feel sorry for those folks, and hope that cheap >>internetting soon comes their way. >Internet access is not the Problem, it`s the phonebill. I have CHEAP Internet access myself. $17.50 a month UNLIMITED/FULL Internet access, with a Local 28.8K Connect sight. I can be on 24 Hours a day 7 days a week and it would still only cost me 17.50 a month, and No Cost at all for the phone call. The thing it I have 1 phone line only. Reading/Writing message can take a long time, why tie up the phone line to do that? I Grab my messages, Hang up(People can now call me, or I can call out), take care of all that, then Log back on, send any replys, and get on the WEB, or FTP, whatever, and get off. It's bad enough trying to get a hold of me on my line as it's bust all the time, Using THOR to get everything helps greatly, that takes up most of my time. >Ciao... > Heiko Schnapp >-- >WindowsError 00C: Memory hog error. More ram needed. More! More!
