I stopped downloading messages when i left fidonet. I read things online 
a unix machine with Tin. Which gives me the ability to look into any of 
the 7000 news groups a few seconds notice, and search 
bodies/titles/headers of messages as well.

I tried thor, but for me the interface is very difficult...not really 
designed to work on 640x256 screen.
