Hello Dave Beaty
A notre derniere communication tu ecrivais au suget de "Aweb Ftp":

Needs install FTPMount-0.8.lha & AWebFTP.lha, it's on Aminet.
It's work fine for me. MailTo goes fine with AWebmail.lha.
Good luck

In the Aweb settings, enter the following:

Command : amitcp:bin/ncftp

Arguments: %s:%s <>"con:0/0/400/200/AWeb-FTPClient/close/screen %s"

This will start the ncftp client that comes with AmiTCp and set
it up in colon mode. You might want to set the download dit for
it in the .ncftprc file. (check the ncftp docs)

Take care,

Yes, if you use AmiTCP:

Select 'Network 3: External programs' under the menu Settings/Change
Settings, type in under the heading 'ftp:' for command: AmiTCP:bin/ncftp
for arguments: %s:%s <>"con:4/370/634/100/AWeb-FTPClient/close/screen %s"

The four numbers after con: represent the window size, change these
according to your preferences.

Put the file .ncftprc in your AmiTCP:HOME directory containing the
following lines:

#set logfile AmiTCP:HOME/.ncftplog
#set logsize 1024000
#set progress-reports 3
#set verbose 1
#set local-dir SYS:Transfer

Where logsize is the size of the logfile in bytes, local-dir is where
transferred files are put in. For the other parameters refer to
AmiTCP:doc/ncftp.man.

Ok, that shows how to make it download. Never had a problem with that.
How about getting AWeb to use FTP to DISPLAY text? I.e., so I read
(for instance) the url
ftp://ftp.python.org/pub/www.python.org/index.html (I know I can get
to that one via an http: URL, but it was the easy example to find!)

I've got one even easier to think of <G> Netcom doesn't have an http:
server for shell accounts -- one /must/ use the ftp directories...

A simple way, if you are using AmiTCP, is to set up ncFTP in the AWeb
"Change Settings" requester. Go to "Network 3: External Programs and under
FTP enter:

Command: amitcp:bin/ncFTP
Arguments: %s:%s

Change the path in Command to your own. Note: There must be a ":" between
the first %s and the second %s in the arguments line.

Now when you click on a FTP:// location, the file will be downloaded by
ncFTP as an external program.

There is a program called awebftp.rexx which needs to have FTPMount
installed to work. I could not get mine to work (crashes) but you could try
it out.

Cheers

Well, that is what he asked, (check above) so that's what I answered.

Now that is a different one.Hmmm, you could use the ncftp -m option
but that would mean all files get displayed. Hmmm, how about some
little tool that the output of ncftp can be piped into and that
checks if it's binary of plain text. Then saves the binary and
shows the text. Should not be that difficult using whatis.library.
When I have some more time, I'll look into it.

Take care

Yup, you did. I had a different question...

You shouldn't need the tool. AWeb has an extensions->type map built
in, and should use that once you get things configured properly.

Or you can use a proxy server for ftp.

I'm not sure that will work as I think AWeb just gives over the
URL to the FTP program without doing anything more. But I will
have to verify that with Yvon. And I should have configured it
OK as eg. somefile.txt on a http: link is shown as plain ASCII.

Cya,

I'll try that out later today.

Some days; time spent reading news is really worthwhile.

There is also a REXX file on Aminet that does the trick using FTPMount 0.8 or
above...latest version is 1.0 I believe.

I also have an ARexx script that interfaces AmiFTP to AWeb. Email me if
you want it.
