Amiga 1000 LED Problem?

Recently I was powering up the ole' 1k and I happened to turn on the
llllllllole
2400 baud modem first. I glanced at something that caught my eye,
and saw that the LED in my Amiga (The Power indicator) was glowing at
about half brilliance; The computer was off! Trying it a couple times,
I realized that the modlem was somehow sending power to this light
through the RS232 port! (Process of elimination; I take off the cable,
the light doesn't show up...He always was a smart boy). Any problems
this might cause? What exactly is goin' on? Any cause for concern?
Thanks for your time,
