How much memory does my Laser need for DTP ?

I have recently bought an old Brother HL-8 laser (with HP Laserjet+ emulation)
but it doesn't seem to have nearly enough memory for doing 300dpi DTP type
work.

It has only 1/2 Mb ---- How much in total is needed to hold a full page of A4
size image ?

I have been told that HP Laserjet II memory cards are OK - is this correct ?

If so, I have the choice of 1Mb, 2Mb or 4mb for which the prices are (in pounds)
68, 102 & 164 plus VAT @ 17.5%. Are these reasonable prices ? If not, where
can they be gotten cheaper ?

One final question, any idea whether it's possible to get a postscript cart.
for this printer ?

Thanx in advance
