Can I recover read protected files.

I have an A2000 with a Ricoh removable media 50meg drive named RH2:
a standard hard drive, accelerator board etc.

I goofed and and now have the system come up with a message "RH2: has a
checksum error on block 2572." If I cancel the error message the icons
appear and I can read the files that were on the disk before I caused
the error. However there was a large group of files that I had unset all
of the protection bits. I would like to be able to recover those files.
When I send a command to set any of those files to read I get the system
message "Rh2: is not validated."

Does any one have suggestions for what I might try to do in order to
recover those read protected files?

Thank you for any help?
