mouse pointer

I just installed new Kickstart Roms into an Amiga 3000, no fun.
Then I installed WorkBench O.S. 3.1.
Now....one thing, why did my mouse pointer go from a cool nice hi-res one to
an ugly low-res one that looks like my old Amiga 500???? ....yuk!

Anyone tell me how to change it back, I can hardly look at it.

thanks in advance,
dAVE

How about using the 'pointer' program in the sys:Prefs directory?
Just select 'High res' That will do the trick.

I ran into the same problem in upgrading my A3000 to 3.1. The problem is with
the .prefs files in your SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys directory. They didn't get
updated when you upgraded to 3.1, and they are not compatible with 3.1. You
need to delete them (after writing down the settings of course) and then use
the tools in your Prefs directory to recreate them. The file that is causing
the particular problem with the mouse pointer is 'palette.prefs'. My mouse
pointer cleared up just after deleting this file.

Is it really possible to get a hires pointer on an A3000? I thought there was
a problem with sprites just being LO-res.
If not please tell me how.

TIA

When I was in the middle of doing my hires mouse pointer collection
(aminet: pix/icon/ArgelPtrs.lha I think) I asked on here and after TONS
of confusing replies, here's what I think is the right answer:

"ECS users must be using the new OS3 monitors (e.g. DBLNTSC) to use these
pointers (I think)!!!"
