It looks like everyone missed the boat on this one, even though I thought
I was quite clear in my text above.  I had previously mentioned that
obviously two people couldn't use the same copy (in memory) at the same
time.  As I say above, "...use a restartable program _then exit_" ie, they
quit the program and leave it hanging around in memory.  Indeed, this
works just fine (no reason why it shouldn't, but I did verify it with my
terminal).

What you address is shared libraries/code, which would indeed be very
intriguing but is totally out of the question, as you correctly state. :)
