The reason *I* begin my signature with two dashes is that when representing
a long dash in type, you are supposed to use two dashes.
When I sign my name on paper, it looks approximately like this:
**
* *
* *
* *
* *
* * *
* * *
******* * **
* * * ** * ** ** * **
* * * * * * ** * ** * * ** *
* * * * * ** * * * * *
* * * * ** ** * ** * *
* * * ** * *
* * * * *
** * * * *
** * *
(Modulo the little line I traditionally put underneath it which is
even harder to transcribe onto such a list)
--Lynn :-)
