The Megas were for sale at two dealers I know of: Home Computing Centers
in San Bruno, and Access to Software in San Francisco. Atari was at a
show in Tanforan Mall (where Home Computing is, the show was sponsored by
Home Computing) and brought along Megas to show. They were being sold at
  both dealers that day.

The machines were air shipped by Atari. They had FCC labels. I
didn't see any Mega 2s. (They WERE called STs, by the way...) The
new monitors are for sale with them (SC1224 type 4?). And they all
had blitters. Hope this answered some questions! (If anyone wants
one I'd be happy to arrange shipping!)
