Easiest option... Hit the ST ftp sites and find a utility to convert the boot sectors of your ST formatted floppies so they have the little MS_DOS code where it belongs. See, the disk formats are the same, the fat tables are the same. Only difference is that early versions of TOS set a unique disk ID each time you formatted a disk from the desk-top. This way TOS/GEM had the potential to know any time you did a disk swap, and even be told to keep various and seperate caches for each disk you might be using. DOS however, wants to see the words MS_DOS instead of an ID number there. Such a utility simply writes over the ID number MS_DOS, and you're in buissness. Don't use this utility on origonal factory distribution disks such as games, or your origonal copy of NeoDesk!. It's perfect for back-ups and your data tank disks tho'. All it does is change a few bits so dumb arse DOS-WIN can tell the disk format is indeed compatable. Also note...some versions of Norton Disk Doctor running on windows can detect and correct this problem. Maybe even other disk-fixing utilities PC side. If you have such an animal on your windows box...use an unimportant back-up disk and try it :) Another option... Get a null modem cable or adaptor ($5 tops at Radio Shack)... With your favorite terminal programs on both machines, Initiate a standard batch dump using your favorite modem protocol (Zmodem, Ybatch, etc...) Brian
