Having downloaded the POP3 version of NOS from Umich, I'm left a little
in the dark as there wasn't any information on what extra settings need
to be added in any of the files that accompany the NOS.TTP programs.

I've seen the lines :

pop mailbox <username>
pop mailhost <host name> 3
pop userdata <username> <password>
pop quiet off
pop timer 300

added to someone's STARTUP.NOS, and the recommendation to put the line

pop mailhost <hostname> 3 

on a function key, followed by

pop kick

which I have tried, but this doesn't seem to do much! Do I have to add or
change any directories or other files to operate POP3? What should I do to
find out whether any mail is waiting on a POP3 account? What should I
see on screen to let me know how things are going?
