With reference to those who have decried the level of testing
concerning the OASIS2/ICE package, I'm taking the liberty of posting
below a copy of my latest 'Comment List' which is usually posted to
the beta testers and NeST users only.

I've done this without the sanction of Phil and Dave (and expect to
get my legs slapped), but I feel I must post the list at least once to
show the typical depth of the beta work carried out, and to show how
quickly Dave and Phil do fix any bugs reported to them. I usually get
2 new beta copies per week.

If anyone wishes to post any bugs theyy have discovered that I can
verify I'll gladly add them to the list.

I may also continue to post this list (or a sanctioned version) to the
newsgroups if Dave adn Phil allow, as I feel this will stave off a
fair ammount of critisism and will also show actively how progress is
being made.

Comments anyone?

This comment list will also be posted in the NeST N.SUP.OASIS_ICE
message echo on a weekly basis.

This data is based on the beta version(s) provided on:

ICE    = 13th of May.
OASIS2 = 13th of May.

Package 2.01 is the last release version.
Package 2.02 will be the next release which is in beta test (various
stages).

New in ICE since the first official OASIS2 release:
===================================================

2.01

- More TCP routines in machine code.
- Ftp bug fixed.
- Socket and Directory windows seperated.
- Debug q removed.
- ICE spead increased.
- News can now be sent without downloading news.

2.02

- IGNORE allowed in logon script to allow sending of multiple lines.
- IGNORE/n now supported (sends back a CR).
- ICE online clock disabled it the user runs on an (M)STe/ST-Book.

New in OASIS2 since the first official OASIS2 release:
======================================================

2.00

- Window re-draw routines completely recoded.

2.01

- More Redraw code modifications.
- Fix of Local Post bug.
- Documentation corrected.

2.02

- Problem with unregistered article headers fixed.
- Edit SIG problem fixed.
- When examining articples ready to post in the Internet window, after the
  article is exited (using ESC) the initial window's contents are not
  redrawn - fixed.

New in ICE_NET since the first official OASIS2 release:
=======================================================

2.01

- Changes made to HELP dialogues.

List of possible bugs discovered in ICE so far:
===============================================

- Fix packet CRC problems.
- Fix PPP packet bug where carrier drops.

List of possible bugs discovered in OASIS2:
===========================================

- When logging onto Demon with an existant HEAD.OUT file you get an
  error and the program exits instead of appending the data.

- When unbatching headers/news from groups which have been deleted the
  data is not added to 'junk'. [Phil]

- Local Post bug with exit back to desktop.

- When 'New groups' is chosen the new groups are not added to the master
  listing as the process bombs out. The master listing appers to be lost
  but is still there as a backed up file.

- GEMDOS seek error when posting a mail mime document if nothing is writen
  in the external editor - i.e. enter external editor and exit
  immediately.

- In the Outbound window the IP name is always shown in upper case, this
  should be in the case as detailed in the config files.

- In PostBox doing 'Outmail' and reading outmail, then closing the postbox
  window and then selecting postbox shows inmail, but has outmail crossed.
  Clicking on the window clears the flag. Clicking on outmail again causes
  the system to bomb. Random bug, ok some times. On re-entering the program
  as soon as Outmail is selected the program bombs out immediately. This
  is pnly cured by a re-boot (possible 'terminate' problem with windows
  not being closed).

To-Do and Suggestion List:
==========================

- Implement thread map for emails. [Will be implemented but after
  initial release]. [Phil]

- Update FROST to include: Use of full user names. [Dave/Daron/Phil]
                         : Implement ICE mail interface.

- Iconic control system for sending MIME multi-parts. [Phil]

- Implement stand alone Fronds (deamons):

   - F.R.O.ST = Fidonet Reworked Operations ST. [Daron, Phil, & Dave]
   - N.O.M.A.D = News Operation Moderation And Delivery (Moderation of
     newsgroups).
   - P.A.L.M = Please Add Listed Mailshot (Mailing lists).
   - C.A.M.E.L = Count And Manage Electoral Lists (Voting systems).
   - = Autopost text file on a certain day each month

- Allow headers/messages to be selected via click and drag.
  [Phil - maybe]

- When using the auto-locator when sending email messages it would be
  useful if a dialogue came up confirming the users name, and if more
  than one user shares that data (I have 4 Dave's in my yellow pages)
  then a selection dialogue should appear allowing you which user to
  select. This should just show the names available, not the full YPG's.
  [Phil]

- Wanted: C  include files  for  use with  GFA MyDials  dated  10/11/92;
  export.h & import.h [For Phil - obtained by Daron, awaiting feedback]

- Add in function key selection of the user. [Phil]

- Implement use of SHIFT HOME to move cursor to the bottom of the mail and
  news windows. [Phil]

- Add in skipping of newsgroups with unread mail similar to that used on
  the news headers. [Phil]

- Can dialogs be added in to OASIS2/ICE to support setting of the
  following to allow fine tuning? [Dave]

	attach asy AUX: 0 ppp sl0 32767 1500  110
	ip ttl 64
	tcp mss 1460
	tcp window 11680
	tcp irtt 3000
	tcp syndata on
	ppp sl0 lcp local mru 1500
	ppp sl0 lcp remote mru 1500
	ppp sl0 lcp local accm 0x000a0000

- Clean exit to Oasis2 - it is bombs trap the error and set the time back
  to what it should be.

- In the Outbound window - Window header should change to show 'outbound'.

- With each release made of the program(s) include a HISTORY.TXT file
  detailing what has changed since the last release.

- Include sets of working log on examples for different providers in the
  package.

Qasis / Ice FAQ's
=================

- Q: Can icons be added to those already used (as seen within the
     toolbox)?
  A: Yes - the TOOLS_LO.RSC and TOOLS_HI.RSC files may be edited to add
     additional icons.

- Q: Can the subject be changed when replying to messages?
  A: No, this is not allowed according to the RFC's.

- Q: What causes error OASIS FILE ERROR I:\OASIS2\NEWS\ARTICLES, and how
     can it be corrected?
  A: Try re-indexing the news group, sometimes the index gets corrupted
     by drive fragmentation from a lot of unbatching and expiring. If
     this fails, Wipe the group.

- Q: What do OASIS and ICE stand for?
  A: OASIS = One Atari System Internet Software.
     ICE   = Internet Connection Extension.

- Q: How much is the registration fee for Oasis2 and ICE?
  A: The registration fee is 30 pounds and gives a lifetimes
     registration for OASISx, ICE, ICE_NET, and SPIDER.

- Q: If the email files get corrupted, how can this be fixed?
  A: Delete the relevant .MIX file from the mail directory and when post
     is selected the email will be reindexed.

- Q: I know that 'X-' reference lines may be added to the top of a
     message manually to access things like Anon servers, but how can
     these be added if for multi-part binary file transfers? Is it
     possible?
  A:
