It's been a while since I set anything up, but...

Set it up to run on a port (i.e. pserver mode). cvs will then open a socket
to the server to do the transactions, eliminating the need for rsh. You must
set some environment variables (IIRC). In pserver mode, you can even specify
your own passwd file, to limit the users with access to the repository. I have not,
however ran cvs in pserver mode on beos, only hte client end.

Search for CVS and pserver. This is how I found how to do it the first time I
tried, and I believe there's a lot of good information out there to find.

Hope this helps,
Chip
