I have a friend that is trying to run TELIX on his rainbow. Everything
runs fine, except it can't find his com port. It seems that the rainbows
com port is not the same as the IBM default.

Is there anyone that knows what the address is, or a method to determine
where it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

DAVE SPAULDING

I think comp.os.vms is what you're looking for.

Thanks, Carl; I'll get that one instead of or in addition to comp.sys.dec.

Unlike the Fido echoes, bringing the newsgroups here will cost me real money.
Don't yet know just how much, but it can be expected to put a limit on the
number I can bring in. Last night I got a file containing the complete list
of those available. I haven't looked at it yet, but the file size is over
800KB and I understand it lists about 1200 newsgroups. It should be interesting

There is a file available here on Glacier Peak Rainbow (343/3) @ (206)
644-8431 and on Naugy Net (141/491) @ (203) 729-7569 that details the
connections necessacary to make a cable out of ribbon-cable, it's about
$12 in parts at the most, and I think you could have it made for you for under
$20 the instructions are good enough that anyone that can count can make
a replacement cable.

Well, I was hopint that if i can get a uupc site going, eventually I could
gateway between Internet and Fidonet for net 343, seeing as how my 'bow sits
idle most of the time anyway. I'll see if I can get Internet or bitnet write
access at the local system that allows reading of the message areas.

I know that Quick C 1.0 works on the 'bow in command line mode.
I think there's a patch that allows Turbo C 1.5 to run but I don't know the
name.
