CH>You're right, Rainbow Kermit 2.32/A ignores the printer controller sequence
CH>ESC [ 5 i and ESC [ 4 i. I heard a rumor that the version now in beta test
CH>does honor them.

Is this peculiar to Rainbow Kermit or does it happen with PC Kermit
v2.32a as well? On the VM/CMS mainframe I work with, I use something
called TPRINT to print out files via PC-Kermit. Whatever sequences it's
sending are doing the trick because this works fine with v2.32a on a PC.

Actually, I'm hoping/planning to get ahold of a bunch of used rainbow disks.
I'm trying to gauge their value. I'll post a message when I know what I
have.

Well, I suppose that's the definitive answer. Pardon me, however, if I stillre

Hi Bill
I found a temporary cure for the problem. I took all the SET PRINTER ON
out and substitute with "Enter a control-P for a print-out at the same point
in the programs. Not as clean as I would like my programming to be but it
works for now, until some nice guy like you comes up with a better answer.
Thanks for taking the time.

Note that some catalogues are carrying things they call Rainbow Diskettes
which is not what *we* mean by Rainbow Diskettes. :-} What *they* mean
is the diskette jackets (not the sleeves... the jackets) are made in various
colors of plastic, and you get an assortment of colors (hence, a "rainbow")
of colors in the package.
If these Fujis are actually real RX50-formatted diskettes, then that
is an awfully good price and I know lots of people besides Rainbow users
who'd be interested in 'em...

Thanks John,

I will probably use something like Turbo version 4.x via command line.

Thanks again,

Doug!

GT> I have heard that there is a problem with DOS 2.11 and hard drives.

It only concerned disks that have bad sectors. Suitable Solutions discovered
that MS-DOS 2.05, 2.11, and (early) 3.10 marked the wrong cluster as bad in
the FAT, so the bad sector would continue to be allocated. There was also
a problem with error reporting.

The solution was a workaround that was transmitted in diskette form with
the Oct/Dec 1987 edition of Rainbow News.

I assume this problem has been fixed with the commercial versions of MS-DOS
3.10. Anybody know?
