This was the version semi-released by DEC, right? [DEC did release it
for Ford Motors, but most copies floating around were bootleg versions.]
FM>I assume this problem has been fixed with the commercial versions of MS-DOS

Since the patches were developed by Suitable Solutions and SS is now
marketing v3.10, it would seem logical the problem has been fixed. [But
I don't know for sure.]

Is this a utility for the Rainbow? Does it use the IDRIVE? CODEBLUE shell?
Cost? Vendor? Thanx, jim

I believe i got formatting software from Suitable Solutions for my ST225;
also
bought my DOS 3.1 from them (recently recieved free 3.1b upgrade). The format
for both, i think, used a 'loader' FORMAT d: /L, then a SYS d:. I'll see
if
i can ARC/ZIP up the Hdisk stuff tho i encourage SS support. They have an
IBM
CHARACTER GENERATOR CHIP to further enhance the CODEBLUE Emulation Shell.

I've used several high/quad density AT disk brands successfully with an
occasional 'double-try' on the RX50 Formatting (probably due to media thicknes
- DS) as the only drawback. jim

The problem stems from the way the IBM looks at its printer. If its off,
and the signals are not returned, then a TIMEOUT must be set. This has been
corrected in Clipper with the ISPRINTER() function. There is a dBASE echo
area on this BBS (101/45) and it is linked throught the world. Its a better
place to ask questions about dBASE.
Good luck!

If you want the compiler it is on my BBS as GWCOMPRB.ZIP available
for dload or file request. If you want the interpreter, I sold a copy for
20 bucks to Geoff Reed in Washington. (not DC). He stiffed me for the 20 bucks
so if he agrees to sell it to you make sure you get the product first before
paying him.

Could you pass this along???
I may have already replied to this once before but am too rummy to
remember.
I've been using three kinds of disks regularly -- NONE OF THEM
RX-50 PREFORMATTED and have never had a failure to format.
BASF SS-DD certified for 96 TPI
BASF DS-DD not so certified
Maxell DS-DD also not certified
You do have to format the disks yourself but I'm sure they are
FAR CHEAPER than pre-formatted RX-50 disks. The BASF 96 TPI disks
were $5 for a box of 10, the Maxells were $8.25 for 15. The prices
aren't rock-bottom but not bad.

Looking more closely at the ad, I am afraid you are right, Bill. They were
described as DSDD, which I figured was a mistake; but now I see that there
is also a 3.5-in. diskette listed as "Rainbow".
