For those who haven't heard, DEC's "Outlet" has advertised the Rainbow
128K Memory Expansion (PC1XX-AC) for just $75. I bought one, removed
the 64K chips, and added three sets of 256K chips for another $75 --
meaning I upgraded from 128K to 896K for a very reasonable $150 (the
chips were from Microprocessors Unltd in Oklahoma; 918-267-4961). Sorry
about the plug for DEC -- just trying to help the huddled masses.
By the way, the installation is simple -- takes just a couple of
minutes.

Yea, I have several graphics boards for $65. I also have all kinds of
memory boards, hard-drive controllers, keyboards, monitors and lots
of other rainbow hardware. I now have 3 systems for sale at $425.
This includes 640k memory, 10mb hard-drive & controller, keyboard,
and monitor (Amber or White). 20mb drives are available for $175 more.
If anyone is interested I will beat any price from Newman, Midwest or
any of the other 'DEC dealers'. My voice number is 800-446-3074 or
617-769-9811 (inside eastern mass & Canada).

YES YES YES
I've uploaded the Gif viewer to both the Glacier Peak and
Horsefeathers boards here in the Seattle area. I wish I
could remember where I originally got it.
It should be available on either of the above BBSs as RBGIF.ARC
or RBGIF.ZIP -- one of those two compression methods.

Amer, I seemed to have crossed up in getting to your house last thursday
to pick up the stuff for the meeting. Maybe you could call me at the office.
I've tried you at home but to no avail.

The version I had here at the time may have been early test. I'll check
and see if there's a newer version that may work better. It'll be a few
days, at least.

RBGIF.ARC is available for file request here, ask your sysop to request it
for you anytime except ZMH, HST speed would take less than one minute.

Does anyone know if there are any postscript printer drivers for the
Rainbow? I'm interested in using my 'Bow with a scriptprinter if possible.

Then at least understand that, excepting user groups, (which are
disbanding at a fast spate, [the Boston Group has plummeted from an average
of 50 to 100 people per meeting to an average of about 15,) there is very
little else by way of "live" information for Rainbow users.

That is wonderful. The more who know to be "wary" the merrier.
And finally, a good controversy CAN and sometimes does, provide a
welcome respite to dry technical messages, don't you think? Especially when
one side is so clearly in the right! :-) :-)

Thanks to those who've helped with my problem running CAD.
I found that by setting up a 360K RAM disk using the RDISK utility
that the program would run. I assume that MDRIVE would have worked
as well.
I am still a bit underwhelmed by the demos -- WAYOUT and HOUSE.
Everything I get is in shades of red. Some are so faint they
practically blend into the black background.
Any suggestions???

This echo is not the place for either personal attacks or a discussion of
a company's accounts receivable situation.
Can we _please_ halt discussion on this topic?
This is becoming excessively annoying. And, according to my attorney,
potentially actionable. I've been deleting these messages as they come
in, and I suggest other sysops do the same.
Regards,
KGB
