Rainbow EchoMail Digest Jul 18, 1990 In this issue: RE: DECCOMM RE: TECO FOR RAINBOW? DEC RAINBOX (PC100A&B) CP RE: I DRIVE/DS DRIVES ON Articles posted to either INFO-DEC-MICRO or comp.sys.dec.micro are currently gatewayed to the Rainbow Echo on FidoNet. You can, however, determine if the program is currently running on a Rainbow or an IBM and remap your BIOS calls based on that. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 ------------------------------ Date: 07-16-90 (23:30) To: ALAN CONROY Subject: RE: TECO FOR RAINBOW? From: CARL HOUSEMAN re: The bad news is that I cannot recall the company who sold it... The generic TECO for MS-DOS is public domain, as far as I know. The real problem is it isn't very complete, if you're an old-time TECO hacker. The version I have identifies itself as X1.04 and displays no copyright when started. It includes source files for Microsoft C version 3.0 which *are* copyrighted but licensed for free distribution for non-commercial use. - --- ConfMail V4.00 * Origin: SYS$OUTPUT BBS * Library, PA * Fido 12s * 412.854.0511 * ------------------------------ Date: 07-16-90 (15:47) To: ALL Subject: DEC RAINBOX (PC100A&B) CP From: JOHN DUNCAN I have some RB 100A & 100B CPU boxes for sale. They have all the CPU cards, PS, memory, floppy drives, etc, just no devices external to the cpu box itself (monitor, keyboard, etc). One even has the 10MB Seagate ST-412 hard disk. If you're interested, call me at 617-323-4852. They will go to the KGP Computer Show in Boxborough MA on Aug 4, so the best price will be had before then ( $45-75 each before show). Thanks, John Duncan - --- * Origin: Midnight DEC - The BBS for DEC sales & information (Opus ------------------------------ Date: 07-16-90 (18:08) To: GEORGE THEALL Subject: RE: I DRIVE/DS DRIVES ON From: ALAN CONROY You CAN disassemble the ROM BIOS (and MSDOS, if you want). Many have done so. The problem is that you have no comments, labels, or other symbols to assist in understanding it. The V2.11 MSDOS BIOS is printed in the technical documentation set. This is no longer available from DEC, but DEC has allowed people to copy documentation which is no longer available - so find yourself a copy. The problem is that the BIOS was reworked by Suitable Solutions for V3 of MSDOS; the original had some bugs. If you need a copy of the BIOS listing, give IRUG a try. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 ------------------------------
