If you can give a page number & manual reference (I hope you're talking
about the original CPM 86/80 doc set as shipped in 1985!), I'd
be curious to see just how DEC managed to goof up a discussion
of memory addressing in the Rainbow.
Of course, as you note, the *Rainbow* is limited to 896Kb, but the 8088
with 20 address lines reaches to 1 mb. The Z80 with 16 address
lines gets another 64K, just be complete!

Carl,
Yes, that's the set I'm talking about. The only time DEC is mentioned
in the manuals is in the opening credits. Otherwise it is all
DR. It wouldn't suprise me that they screwed up. I haven't
ever had to push the entire memory in any of my programs, so it
never became an issue. ;-)
Thanks for keeping everyone informed, including me! Even an old Rainbow
dog can learn a few tricks, or information!
As Always,
Paul

Good luck; let me know if you succeed. I have mine set up as 2 32MB
DOS partitions. I tried at the time to squeeze more out of
it, but wasn't able to.

Subject: QUANTUM DRIVES ON RBOW
From: MARC MCCUNE
Does any have any knowledge of using a Quantum 10 or 40 meg hard drive
on a rainbow?
I entered this questions earlier, but received no response. (or I missed it).
Actually, if anyone knows any-and-all hard drives are workable with the
rainbow, the information would be appreciated.

Scott, here are the connections for a IBM PC to DEC LA series printers as
shown in one of the RS-232 connection references:

Have not had a chance to test this cable here but this book has been
very accurate in the past. Note, this is for the original DB25
connector as used
on the PC.
Hope this helps...
