What are the system parameters for setting up WINDOWS 286 V2.11 on the Rainbow?
I have a 100B with 896kb memory, Suitable Solutions MS-DOS 3.10b and
the last Code Blue 2.01 patched with 3.10b, Monochrome monitor.
Because I do not have the adaptation kit I am installing on my AT's drive E:
as with the following Parameters:
CGA
No mouse
US keyboard
NO EMS or EXtended memory
Generic Printer
Also what are the Code Blue switches for running this?

Andrew,
I ran a 100B motherboard just fine with a 100A power supply. If you
want to get a hard drive, you should get the 100B power supply.
You can try Eustace Enterprises or Newman Computer Exchange.

Check with Caroline Mack at IRUG for the availability of DOS versions.
She can be reached at 618/632-1143.

if you turn mediachk on, you can read and write msdos single sided
(180k) disks. the rainbow knows how to detect an ibm 180k disk and
work with it. you just can't format such disks on the rainbow.

I've heard that, and also that you should not use alcohol on the platen
because it tends to dry it out. Tonight at our Rainbow User's
meeting Geoff Reed suggested using a rubber/vinyl cleaner such
as ARMOR ALL(tm). That makes a lot of sense to me. Just
follow the directions. Geoff, comments?

You can't. Code Blue will not work with any graphics application.
The adaptation kit includes the appropriate display driver for
the Rainbow.

The only disks I know you can read DIRECTLY are IBM single-sided
diskettes. By that I mean you just stick the diskettes into an
RX-50 drive and READ it directly -- you can't write to it,
however. There are other ways to get data off of double-sided
IBM diskettes, but require the use of certain software
utilities and other hardware products such as I-Drive or access
to a 286 or 386 machine.

As just one data point, let me say my Rainbow ran fine with a hard
disk and a power supply from a 100A. [My system was TRUMPed up from a
100A.] Perhaps today's hard disks are more efficient and require less
current.

Speaking of her, anybody know where she is these days? Geez, the
last time I saw a copy of _Rainbow News_ was about 12 months ago.
Wasn't she planning to move back to the East?
