No, you can't use Rainbow cards on anything but a Rainbow. But nearly
all PCs have provision for a numeric coprocessor. You don't
need a card slot for it; the 8087 chip goes in a socket that
is the same size and type (and frequently right next to) the
8088 chip. Take a look at your motherboard and see if there
isn't any empty socket on there somewhere.

If memory serves the 8087 board serves the same function as the memory
adapter board and adds the coprocessor capability.

BTW, I do have a couple of the memory adapter boards still available.

re: direct moving of cursor...

I thought once that the cursor was an attribute. But I can't say for
sure any more.

One way to find out is to disassemble the code that executes to parse a
cursor positioning escape sequence, but that's a LOT of work.

Good luck...

Jack, There were two different versions of that expansion memory board.
One had soldered-in chips, the other had sockets and switches.
The change came about when they switched from the "A" to the "B"
version motherboard. There is an adapter out there whilc will
let the B version memory card work in the A Rainbow. The
obvious thing to do once you get all that RAM in there is to
make a nice sized ramdrive so you can capture and download from
Packet w/o waiting for the 'bow's notoriosly slow and noisy
floppys. If you haven't already discovered it, the
far-and-away best term program for the Rainbow under MS-DOS is
LCTERM, available from almost any Rainbow BBS. By the way.. I
have a Televideo Portable (CP/M) similarly rescued from the
trash which is in use as my own Packet station. The Rainbow is
my wife's word proc and terminal for calling work, and my
primary machine is (boo, hiss) Bozo the Clone.
