Nostalgic equipment questions

I have recently rescued a DECMate II from the agonies of "the big
swim." It was being used as a boat anchor... ;-)

Configuration #1:
  DECMate II system board.
  CPM board.
  1 RX-50

Configuration #2:
  Rainbow 100A system board
  Memory card
  HD card
  10 MB HD
  1 RX-50

The Situation:
1) The only bootable disk I have for the DECMate is the
diagnostics. The friend I aquired this system from "is going
   to look" for the others...
2) The disk test indicates that drive 1 "has problems"
   A) The drive itself is probably 'OK' (I swapped the RX-50 from
the Rainbow in and re-tested -> same error)
   B) This leads me to believe that the controlling circuitry on
the system board (or the cable) is flaking out.
3) I was able to swap the system boards between the two chassis,
and lo and behold, it worked. (Modularity :-))

The Questions:
1) I would be interested in any (inexpensive/free [this IS only a
hobby project]) hardware/software for either of these beasts. In
particular, if anyone has a system board for a 100B, or a
(bootable) version of Kermit for the DECMate...
3) What other system boards can be placed in this particular
   chassis? Wasn't the Pro-350 a Micro-PDP?

Adva[Thanks]nce,

Sven
