To help you out for the moment, edit /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/DPSViewer
and enable the watchProgress resource, i.e.

*watchProgress: on

this should get around problems with dxpsview dropping its cookies.

And yes, dxpsview is being superceded by the cda viewer as mentioned in a
previous reply.
