BTW, What most people have in their houses is "split phase", not "two phase". The former is derived from a single transformer winding with 240v from end to end and a center tap, which is the grounded neutral. "Two phase" is a setup that requires 3 or 4 wires and generator windings that are electricly 90 degrees out of phase. It is only used in very old industrial plants anymore.
