I started doing this from memory, but got the chance to
go by work this morning to get a copy of the Systems and
Options Catalog and the Fall Decus presentation on the
	VAX 9000 performance.

Scaler Performance: ~40 VUPS per CPU. I've seen the combined
SPEC number, but I don't think we've made it public yet.

Vector Performance: Some of the Vector numbers given:

		1000x1000 LINPACK - 80 MFLOPS
		Lawrence Livermore Loops
		    Maximum - 101.3 MFLOPS
		    Arithmetic Mean - 23.3 MFLOPS
		    Geometric Mean - 16.0 MFLOPS
		Perfect Club - 6 to 24 MFLOPS (*)
		    ADM - 9.0 MFLOPS
		    ARC2D - 11.9 MFLOPS
		    FLO52 - 16.0 MFLOPS
		    OCEAN - 10.0 MFLOPS
		    SPEC77 - 15.3 MFLOPS
		    BDNA - 6.8 MFLOPS
		    MDG - 6.2 MFLOPS
		    OCD - 7.7 MFLOPS
		    TRFD - 10.7 MFLOPS
		    DYFESM - 23.8 MFLOPS
		    SPICE - 4.3 MFLOPS
		    MG3D - N/A MFLOPS
		    TRACK - 5.8 MFLOPS

(*) The comment in the original slides is, "These tests
are baseline, optimized results will be released later".

Memory size: At the moment 256 MB and 512 MB. With higher
density memory chips this can be expanded to 2 GB. The
operating systems will probably need a couple of changes
	to support this though.

I/O connections: It depends on the model.

VAX 9000-210 - One XMI I/O bus included. Up to four VAX
		channels available.

VAX 9000-410/420 - Two XMI I/O buses included. Up to
		8 VAXBI channels available.

VAX 9000-430/440 - Four XMI I/O buses include. Up to
		14 VAXBI channels available.

The native XMI I/O adapters currently available are:

KDM70: DSA disk and tape controller (8 ports, two
		available for tapes).

VAX 9000-210 - Up to 5 per system.
VAX 9000-410/420 - Up to 9 per system.
VAX 9000-430/440 - Up to 19 per system.

		CIXCD: CI adapter.

VAX 9000-210 - Up to 8 per system.
VAX 9000-4x0 - Up to 10 per system.

		DEMNA: Ethernet adapter.

VAX 9000-210 - Up to 4 per system.
VAX 9000-410/420 - Up to 8 per system.
VAX 9000-430/440 - Up to 16 per system.

The individual operating systems may adjust the numbers
of things supported according to tested configurations.

Physical configuration: The VAX 9000-210 is a single CPU
system in an a set of 60 inch cabinets. There are four
cabinets with an optional fifth for the VAXBI expansion.
Below are the widths of the cabinets.

		CPU cabinet - 36 inches
System Control Unit and Memory - 26 inches
Front End Cabinet - 36 inches
		VAXBI Cabinet - 29 inches
Utility Port Conditioner Cabinet (UPC) - 45

It appears there is an integrated power front-end
option available in North America only (H7390).

The VAX 9000-410 (single CPU) and VAX 9000-420 (two CPUs)
come in a similar configuation to the Model 210. The
Front End Cabinet is replaced by a XMI Cabinet that is
29 inches wide and contains two 14 slot XMI I/O buses.
The UPC is included. Each cabinet is 72 inches tall,
except the VAXBI and UPC cabinets that are still 60
	inches tall.

The VAX 9000-430 (three CPUs) and VAX 9000-440 include
another CPU cabinet, XMI cabinet and UPC cabinet.

Power requirements: The following is transcribed as
closely as possible from the SOC.

				210	410	420	430	440
	Amps/phase H7390	35
		    UPC 208V	35	38	51	51+38	2 x 51
		    UPC 19	21	28	28+21	2 x 28
		    (380/416 V)

	Input Voltage H7370	208 V 50 Hz, 3-phase, 100 amps/phase cir.
		      UPC	208 V 50/60 Hz, 3-phase, 100 amps/phase
				380 V/416 V, 50 Hz, 3-phase, 50 amps/phase

If you want more details track down a DEC sales critter.

Cost: Our on-line price listed didn't have any of the systems
and I didn't check the price book. I'd rather not try to
	guess.
