TURBOchannel questions

We are considering constructing a DECstation-based data
acquisition system and are wondering if anyone on the net has some
relevant information. Does anyone know how serious DEC's effort to
build a VME interface for the TURBOchannel is? How about efforts by
third party providers? We'd be grateful for information
about anything one can put on the TURBOchannel other than SCSI and
ethernet interfaces and DEC graphics hardware. In fact any information
about the strength of DEC's committment to the TURBOchannel in general
would be welcome.
We are also puzzled by the mentions of FDDI in the entries for
the DECsystem and DECstation 5000 in the current Systems and Options
Catalog. There are no listings for corresponding FDDI interfaces or
pictures of direct connections. What is going on?
