I could use your help...
_
I have a working PDP-11/23 with 248k and 3 RLO1 harddrives (two
of which work.) I am looking for several things and I am hoping
you all might be of help.
_
1) The operating system on this computer is RT-11 v. 4.00 with
TSX Plus 2.2. While this is an interesting operating system, I
would like to move on to something a bit more modern. Anyway,
my problem is I have no way to up/down load files. I heard that
you can using a PC as a server over the PDP-11/23's serial ports, but
I have no idea how... KERMIT-11 requires RT-11 v. 5.00 so I am
out of luck there... Anyway, I have no way to get it files on/off the
system!
_
2) Along that same line... I would like to put UNIX on the machine...
Any ideas where I might start?
_
3) I am looking for more RLO1 drives that work and a tape drive or
any cards/periperals that might work with the machine. The machine
was used originally as a scientific data capture system -
(ADAC SSTEM 1000 - to be exact). It has 8 working serial ports
and a 8 inch drive controller and two eight inch drives to boot. I am
intersted in anything/everything... Maybe even a new PDP-11 processor.
By the way, the PDP-11/23 uses the LSI-11 bus...
_
The computer is going to be used for educational purposes, so any
help you might have would be greatly appreciated.
