Does anyone know how to configure a UNIX workstation to read gapless magnetic tape? By gapless I mean physical records that are several million bytes long. Reading such records requires that the tape controller have a byte count register about 24 bits wide (to hold numbers as big as several million), and direct access to large real memory. The device driver also must be able to deal with large records. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. -- | Chick Racer Chevron Petroleum Technology Co. | | (713) 596-2430 P.O.
