From article <1992Oct29.133124.23532@athena.mit.edu>, by goeke@space.mit.edu (Robert F. Goeke): > I'm running Ultrix 4.3 on a DECstation 5000/25, whose floppy drive is addressed > as /dev/[r]fd0c. rzdisk refuses to acknowledge this as a "legitimate" disk > since it's name doesn't start with "rrz*" (but simply putting in a link > twixt rfd0c and rrz0c doesn't fool it). Did I miss something in the 4.3 > documentation or is this a bug? That's because the fd formatter program is called fddisk, strangely enough. On my 4.2a system, at least, DEC was kind enough to include the manpage, but did *not* bother to rebuild the "whatis" database so apropos(1) could _find_ it! This caused me some confusion when I did an apropos disk. Anyway, man fddisk will tell you what you need to know. -- John G Dobnick ATTnet: (414) 229-5727 Computing Services Division INTERNET: jgd@uwm.edu University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee UUCP: uunet!uwm!jgd "Knowing how things work is the basis for appreciation, and is thus a source of civilized delight." -- William Safire
