What's the symbol for "cynical" ?) > Greg, You're right. We would have made the same statement two years ago and, in fact, did make that statement. And from Nov'90, we introduced the following upgrades for the DS3100: Apr'91 DS3100 -> DS5000/125 Feb'92 /125 -> /133 Apr'92 DS3100 -> DS5000/133 Q2'CY93 /125 & /133 -> R4000 Over a 2.5 year window a DS3100 user was able (or will be with R4000 CPU daughtercards) to increase their CPU power by somewhere between 400%-500%. Granted these upgrades are not free, but all in all, not *too* bad. In addition, there will be a DS3100 upgrade to a future "under $10k Alpha AXP workstation" available in '93. Talk to your Digital Sales Rep if you would like firm prices & part numbers for other DECstation to Alpha upgrades. -- Russ Jones UNIX Marketing Digital Equipment Corporation, Palo Alto, CA All opinions expressed are mine, and not necessarily those of my employer
